Pediatric eye exams are essential to maintain the ocular health of a child. Optometrists can help determine whether your child requires any medical intervention in terms of their eye health and makes it possible to help your child at an early age.
Vision screenings are not the same as an eye exam. Most vision screenings will only screen distance vision and not near vision. Problems with near vision with children can be easily mistaken as learning disabilities, behavioral issues or laziness. A comprehensive pediatric eye exam is needed to evaluate visual skills and function to help determine if children are visually performing at their very best.
